2 Spirits Membership Policies
  1. There shall be two classes of membership in the Organization, namely (full) regular membership and associated membership.
  2. The (full) regular members will be those members who are born of Aboriginal ancestry and identify themselves as two-spirited (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and inter-sex) and shall be entitled to one (1) vote per member at all meetings of the Organization.
  3. The associate member shall not have voting privileges, but shall receive notice of meetings of the members of the Organization.
  4. Applicants for (full) regular membership should declare their aboriginal ancestry, and complete a written application for membership to be signed by the applicant.
  5. If there is a need for further clarification of an individual's application, the applicant must provide additional information of their aboriginal ancestry directly to the Board of Directors.
  6. The name of every person who becomes a member of the 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations shall be entered in the membership list of the Organization.
  7. The Board of Directors shall have the final authority to determine the acceptance or rejection of any application for membership. The Board of Directors shall provide a written explanation to the Applicant for the decision, if the application is rejected.
  8. The applicant will have the right to appeal, in writing, the decision to decline his or her application for general membership to the Board of Directors. The Board of Director's decision on the appeal is final.

  11. Members who systematically and publicly undermine the work and activities of the 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations Organization will have their membership revoked and will be considered not in good standing.
